About FASH
FASH was set up on the dissolution of the South Hants District of the English Folk Dance and Song Society in 1994. We are still affiliated to EFDSS.
FASH:
- Runs a series of workshops throughout the year.
- Runs, initiates or directly funds children's events during the year.
- Assists liaison with and makes grants to various local folk organisations and groups for the furtherance of their activities.
- Maintains a website www.fash.org.uk with an extensive listing of events and information on local and national folk activities.
The objectives of FASH are
- To initiate and/or support, and encourage others to support, all folk activity in South Hampshire and surrounding areas.
- To be a liaison point for folk activity in the area.
Membership of FASH is cheap and easy. It costs just £10 per year and entitles you to a £4 reduction on any workshops you attend. You can join at a workshop, or if you prefer you can do it easily online: instructions are on the membership form. You can also fill out the form and send it to the Treasurer.
Requests for financial support for folk-related activities should be sent to the Secretary. Please provide details of project(s) involved and the telephone number of your group contact.
We have two mailing lists, and you're welcome to join either or both:
- We send reminders of FASH workshops and events to FASH members and other supporters. We also use this list to tell people if we have to cancel or change a workshop in case of an emergency such as snow, flooding or illness. To join this list please contact the Secretary.
- We send a monthly email listing folk events in our area and nearby. To join this list please contact the Editor.
The General Data Protection Regulation requires us to state that we keep personal information (such as your e-mail address or your house address) whether it is in a database or e-mail address list, or even as a paper copy, and describe how we use it. It also requires that you opt in, i.e. you will need to tell us that you agree to our holding this information. We always welcome comments or questions related to folk: feel free to call or email any of the committee members. Everyone is especially welcome at our AGM. The 2026 AGM was held on May 17 on Zoom, and the minutes are available.
